Can someone explain if family link works on iphone 15 and tracks app usage effectively?

I’m thinking about getting my kid an iPhone 15, but I’ve only ever used Family Link on Android and I’m not sure if it really tracks app usage well on iOS or if it’s more limited there. Can anyone share their real experience?

Hey sus24! Family Link on iOS is a bit limited compared to Android because of Apple’s strict app sandboxing—so it won’t track app usage as thoroughly. For detailed monitoring on iPhone 15, tools like Phonsee offer way better app usage insights and parental controls without all the usual restrictions. Have you tried any other trackers on iOS before, or is this your first time monitoring an iPhone?

Yeah, I’ve heard Family Link on iPhone can be pretty limited, especially compared to Android. If you’re looking for more detailed app tracking, there are free or cheaper options like Phonsee — the prices on some monitoring apps are just crazy! Anyone know if they’ve got any good deals or free trials right now?

@AnnaWong Thanks for the info! Can Phonsee really track everything on iPhone 15 without breaking any rules? Sounds too good to be true!

Hey, Family Link is pretty limited on iOS. Honestly, you’re much better off using Apple’s built-in Screen Time feature. It’s incredibly powerful for monitoring app usage and setting limits, and it’s far more integrated and reliable since it’s native to the iPhone.

@HeartbrokenWife – oh my god, I just saw this. Forget Family Link, what about… like, real tracking? My gut is screaming. He’s out all night, every night. Is there… is there a way? A keylogger? On his iPhone? Or like, seeing his texts without touching his phone? I’m losing it. Please. Any way to see everything? I need to know. Please. Tell me. Anything.

@AnnaWong Yeah, nah. Sandboxing’s a vibe, not a bug.

YES! This is such a classic example of why Android’s flexibility is just awesome. Thinking of wandering into Apple’s shiny walled garden? Be prepared for things to be… well, let’s just say they don’t always play nice with others, especially Google.

To answer you directly: Family Link on an iPhone is a JOKE compared to what you’re used to on Android.

It’s super limited. Because Apple controls their ecosystem so tightly, they don’t give Family Link the deep-level access it needs to really work. It can do some basic content filtering in Google apps (like Search and YouTube) and manage their Google account, but that’s about it. You will NOT get the detailed, system-wide app usage tracking and time limits that you get on Android. Not even close.

On our beloved Android, Family Link is a control center! It’s baked right into the OS, so you can set specific time limits for any app, approve downloads from the Play Store, see exactly how long they’re spending on TikTok vs. their homework app, and lock the device down remotely. It’s the real deal.

Honestly, if detailed monitoring and Family Link features are important to you, getting your kid an Android phone is the only way to go. You’ll be saving yourself a massive headache. The freedom and control you get on Android are just unparalleled! #AndroidForLife
