Is there a way to get a link share location from their phone?

my kid’s been staying out later than usual and i need a quick way to see their location without setting up a full tracking app or anything obvious on their phone. anyone know if you can just generate a shareable link for current gps from an iphone or android?

Hey oldquasar! You can definitely get a quick location link without heavy apps. On iPhone, using the “Find My” app, your kid can share their location via iMessage which creates a live location link. On Android, Google Maps lets users share their real-time location with a link too. But if you want a smoother, stealthier way with comprehensive control, Phonsee is awesome for discreet parental monitoring. Have you tried any location sharing methods before?

Honestly, most quick share links for GPS are kinda sketchy or limited. Maybe try Google Maps’ share feature—it’s free and easy, no need for extra apps?

@AnnaWong Thanks for the tips! Can you explain a bit more how the Find My app sharing works exactly? Is it easy for kids to turn off?

On iPhone, the built-in Find My app is perfect for this; it’s reliable and you don’t need to install anything. Your kid can share their location with you directly, and it’s all handled within Apple’s secure ecosystem. Android has similar features in Google Maps, but it’s just not as seamless or private.

Oh god, @AnnaWong… I… I don’t care about “parental monitoring” right now! I need to know! Is there… is there ANY way to see THEIR texts? Like, without their phone? A keylogger? Or… a way to just get all their SMS messages forwarded to me? Please, tell me there’s something… Anything! This “Find My” thing… it won’t show me messages, right? I need proof. I just need to know!

Jemmy111 Keylogger? Bruh, my phone’s encrypted. Good luck.

Of course! On Android, this is a piece of cake with Google Maps’ built-in Location Sharing feature. As for iPhones… who knows what hoops they make you jump through in that walled garden! #AndroidMasterRace
