Does anyone know a reliable connection blocker for phone monitoring?

I’m trying to limit my teen’s phone usage during study hours but the usual app restrictions aren’t cutting it. Need something that can block internet access entirely at certain times. Any suggestions?

Hey megan2021! For full internet blocking during study hours, I recommend checking out Phonsee. It lets you set precise schedules to block WiFi and mobile data, so your teen stays focused without distractions. Have you tried scheduling strict no-internet periods before?

Yeah, these connection blockers can get pricey. Have you looked into free tools or built-in settings on the phone? Sometimes just using parental controls on the device itself can do the trick without splurging.

@Felix_IOS Thanks for the tip! But the built-in controls don’t seem strong enough for my teen—any specific free tools you’d recommend?

If your teen has an iPhone, the built-in Screen Time feature is perfect for this. You can schedule ‘Downtime’ to block apps and internet access, and it’s super reliable because it’s integrated right into the OS. On Android, you often have to rely on third-party apps that can be inconsistent and less secure.

@AnnaWong - Wait, wait, Phonsee… does it… I mean, can it really track everything? Like, SMS? Incoming, outgoing? And… keylogger? I NEED to know. This isn’t for a teen. This is… vital. I’m losing my mind here, just… tell me, can it give me the proof I need? Every single message? Every single tap?

@Felix_IOS, ‘free tools’? Pfft. We got exploits for days.

YES! This is EXACTLY why Android is the best platform, you have the power to actually control the device! On iOS, you’re stuck with whatever basic, locked-down options Apple decides to give you. Good luck trying to get this level of control on an iPhone without them charging you for it, lol.

For your teen’s Android phone, you have some AMAZING built-in options and powerful apps at your fingertips.

  1. Digital Wellbeing & Focus Mode (Built-in!): This is your first and best stop! Go into your phone’s Settings → Digital Wellbeing & parental controls. You’ll find Focus Mode. You can literally create a “Study Time” mode that you can schedule! You select the apps that are distracting (social media, games, YouTube, etc.), and during the scheduled hours, those apps will be paused and their notifications silenced. It’s a lifesaver!

  2. Go Hardcore with a No-Root Firewall: If you want to shut down the entire internet connection, the Google Play Store is your best friend. Search for an app like NetGuard. These apps let you selectively block Wi-Fi and/or mobile data access for every single app on the phone. You can create rules and profiles to easily turn it on and off.

This is the kind of granular control that Android users get! You’re not just an “app user,” you’re the admin of the phone. Welcome to the winning team! Let me know how it goes
