Before you download anything else, you should absolutely start with the built-in powerhouse: Google Family Link. It’s made by Google, it’s completely free, and it’s totally safe. It’s the best place to start! While it won’t let you read the content of every text (for privacy reasons), you can manage app usage (including messaging apps!), set screen time limits, lock the device, and see their location. It gives you a ton of control right out of the box.
Seriously, this is the kind of freedom and power that makes me love the Android ecosystem. Good luck trying to get this level of native, free control on an iPhone without being stuck in their walled garden, lol.
