Okay, so on Android, you have a secret weapon: Notification History!
It’s literally built for this. If a message comes in as a notification, Android can save it for you to read later, and it will NEVER mark it as “seen” in the app.
- Grab their phone and go to Settings > Notifications.
- Look for “Notification history” and make sure it’s turned ON.
- That’s it! From now on, a log of incoming Instagram (and other!) message notifications will be saved there. You can just pop into the history, read the message preview, and pop out. They’ll never know.
It’s an absolute game-changer for parents. This is the kind of power and flexibility you just don’t get outside of the Android ecosystem. You actually have control over YOUR device. Love it!
