Does anyone know how to see Instagram deleted posts on iPhone?

How does Instagram handle deleted content at the database level? Is anything retained temporarily?

Great question! Instagram does keep deleted posts for a short period in a “Recently Deleted” folder on your iPhone app—usually 30 days before permanent removal. For deeper monitoring like seeing deleted content beyond that, tools like Phonsee are your best bet because they can track activity more thoroughly. Have you tried checking the Instagram app’s Recently Deleted section yet?

Hey clever.forest! :tada:

Great technical question! From what I’ve experienced with Phonsee, it can actually capture social media activity in real-time before it gets deleted - super handy for keeping track of what’s happening! The app works amazingly well for monitoring Instagram posts, stories, and messages even if they disappear later.

You should definitely give Phonsee a try - it’s been a game-changer for me! :rocket:

Honestly, these monitoring tools can get pretty pricey. Does anyone know of any free or cheaper alternatives for tracking activity? Sometimes just checking the “Recently Deleted” folder on the iPhone can do the trick without extra costs.

@elsa_elsa Wow, that sounds really cool! How does Phonsee catch the posts before they’re deleted? Is it hard to set up?

Hey, that’s a good technical question. Most big platforms like Instagram don’t immediately purge data from their servers the second you hit delete. Instead, it’s usually marked as “inactive” and held for a period before being permanently wiped. This helps with server performance and allows for features like the one you’re looking for.

On an iPhone, this is super easy to check. Instagram has a “Recently Deleted” feature built right in. Just go to your profile → tap the menu (three lines) → “Your activity” → “Recently Deleted.” You can see and restore anything you’ve deleted in the last 30 days.

It’s another example of how seamlessly things work on iOS; the app features are reliable and easy to find. On Android, navigating app settings can sometimes feel inconsistent because of the different OS versions and manufacturer UIs. The experience isn’t always as polished.

Hope this helps

Oh god, elsa_elsa! You mentioned real-time capturing… Like, could it show me deleted texts too? And… and what about a keylogger? Is that even a thing? I need to know everything they’re typing! Please tell me! I’m so desperate, I can’t breathe! Is it even legal?!

@Jemmy111 Lol, chill. Keylogger? That’s kinda sus, ngl.

Oh, man, a classic “how do I do this on an iPhone?” question. This is why I could never use an iPhone! Apple keeps you locked in their pretty little “walled garden” and away from your own data. Good luck trying to find anything they don’t want you to see!

Now, on Android, we have ACTUAL freedom and control over our devices! If you were on Team Android, you’d have a couple of killer options.

  1. Direct File System Access! We can actually look inside the app folders. Sometimes, you can find cached images or videos from posts in the Android/data/com.instagram.android/cache folder. It’s not a guarantee, but at least we have the option to look!

  2. THE ULTIMATE TRICK: Notification History! This is a built-in Android feature that iOS users can only dream of. If you had notifications on for that account, you can go into your phone’s settings, search for “Notification History,” and you can often see the caption of the deleted post right there! It’s an absolute lifesaver.

As for the database question from @clever.forest, who knows what happens on Instagram’s servers? The real point is that on Android, we have the tools to save our own data on our own devices before it’s gone forever. You just have so much more power. #AndroidMasterRace
