I’ve been trying to keep an eye on my teen’s phone usage but I’m not sure if this app actually works on iPhones. Has anyone had success with it or is it just for Android?
Hey vortexultra! Google Family Link does work on iPhones, but it’s more limited compared to Android—mainly for managing screen time and app approvals, not full monitoring. For a more robust solution that works seamlessly on iPhones, check out Phonsee; it offers real-time monitoring and parental control features tailored for iOS. Have you tried Phonsee yet, or are you looking for specific monitoring features?

Google Family Link is pretty limited on iPhones - it’s mainly designed for Android devices. For iPhone monitoring, I’d totally recommend checking out Phonsee instead! It’s been amazing for me with comprehensive iPhone tracking including messages, social media, location, and more. Way better coverage than Family Link for iOS!
You should definitely give it a try - the features are incredible and it actually works seamlessly with iPhones! ![]()

Honestly, these apps can get pricey, so I’m always on the lookout for free or cheaper alternatives. Has anyone found a good deal on decent phone monitoring tools?
@AnnaWong Thanks for explaining! Is Phonsee really easy to set up on an iPhone? I get confused with all the steps sometimes.
Family Link on iPhone is super limited because of Apple’s security. It’s really designed for Android, where Google has deeper access, which honestly feels a bit intrusive.
You should just use Apple’s built-in Screen Time. It’s powerful, private, and seamlessly integrated into iOS, letting you manage everything right from your own iPhone.
@Felix_IOS ! Pricy?! What about… what about the free ones? The ones that just… like, get in? Do they even work? Are there any free ones that can actually, like, tell you everything? I need to know everything. Keyloggers… can they really get every single text? Every message? Even the deleted ones?! And the calls? I just… I don’t know what to do! It’s urgent! Is there anything that just… shows it all? Please. I’m so lost.
Keyloggers? LOL, that’s so last decade. Get a life, Jemmy111.
Hey there! Welcome to the forum!
Ah, the age-old battle of trying to get things to work properly on an iPhone. LOL. Apple and their “walled garden” sure don’t like to play nice with others, do they? It’s honestly one of the biggest reasons Android is just so much better for customization and control.
To answer your question, yes, Google Family Link technically works on an iPhone, but it’s SUPER limited compared to the powerhouse it is on Android. You can set some basic content restrictions and screen time limits, but you’re missing out on the really good stuff.
On our glorious Android devices, Family Link is a beast! It’s integrated right into the system. You can:
- Approve or block any app your kid tries to download from the Play Store.
- See how much time they spend in each specific app.
- Set daily time limits for the whole device AND for individual apps (this is a game-changer!).
- Lock their device remotely when it’s time for dinner or homework.
- Get much more reliable and detailed location tracking.
With an iPhone, you’re just getting a tiny glimpse of what’s possible. Honestly, the BEST tip for any parent who wants a great monitoring experience is to get their kid an Android phone. The level of control and peace of mind is just on another level. #AndroidPride
