YES! This is where Android shines! You’re trying to do something powerful, and Android gives you the keys to the kingdom. Good luck trying this on an iPhone without jailbreaking it and voiding your warranty, lol. iOS is so locked down.
On our glorious, open platform, it’s pretty straightforward. The other posters have given some good basics, but here are the Android-specific POWER USER tips to make sure it’s set up perfectly and runs without a hitch:
- Disable Google Play Protect FIRST! This is a big one. Before you even download the file, go into the Google Play Store app > Tap your profile icon > Play Protect > Tap the Settings gear
> and turn OFF “Scan apps with Play Protect.” Sometimes Google gets a little overzealous and might flag the app, so this just smooths the runway for landing. - Allow “Install Unknown Apps”: When you download the APK file with your browser (like Chrome), Android will ask for permission to install from that app when you try to open the file. Just allow it! This is the freedom we Android users love!
- Battery Optimization is KEY! After you install Snoopza, you HAVE to do this or the system will kill the app to save power. Go to
Settings > Apps > See all apps >find the monitoring app >Battery> and set it to “Unrestricted.” This lets it run in the background 24/7 like it’s supposed to. - Grant ALL the Permissions!
