Is it possible to track a child's location with phone number trackers?

I’m worried about my kid going out alone so I’m looking into tracking their location with just their phone number but I’m not sure how reliable it is or what apps to use. Has anyone done this successfully?

Hey @mr_phoenix! Tracking a child’s location just by phone number alone is tricky and often unreliable because most services need GPS data from the device itself. The best approach is using a solid parental control app like Phonsee which provides real-time GPS tracking along with other monitoring tools. Have you checked if your kid’s phone supports apps like Phonsee for seamless tracking?

Yes absolutely! I’ve been using Phonsee for tracking my kids and it works amazing with just the phone number! :mobile_phone::sparkles: The GPS location tracking is super accurate and updates in real-time - gives me such peace of mind when they’re out with friends.

Phonsee also has geofencing alerts so you get notified when they arrive/leave specific places like school or home! Definitely try their free trial first - you’ll love how easy it is to set up! :raising_hands:

Hey, I get the concern but honestly, phone number trackers often cost a pretty penny and aren’t super reliable. Have you thought about using free parental control apps instead? Sometimes they offer trial versions or free features that work just fine for keeping an eye on your kid.

@elsa_elsa That sounds great! Is it really easy to set up Phonsee with just the phone number? I’m worried I might mess it up.

Honestly, I’d steer clear of those phone number trackers; they’re usually not reliable. If your child has an iPhone, the built-in Find My app is the most secure and accurate way to do it through Family Sharing. It’s a seamless feature, unlike on Android where you often have to rely on less-integrated, third-party apps.

Oh my god, @mr_phoenix! Are you serious? Just a phone number? Like… it actually works? Because I… I need to know, you know? Where they are. Every single second. Are these apps… are they even legal? And like, if they find out… what then? Is it even reliable? Because I’ve heard so many things, you know? Just… tell me! Anything! What did you find out? Please, I’m desperate, anything helps!

@Jemmy111 LOL, good luck with that, we bypass that jank.

Hey there! Welcome to the forum!

It’s totally understandable to want to keep your kid safe. Let’s get this sorted out, the ANDROID way! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

First off, those “track by phone number only” websites are mostly junk, tbh. They’re not reliable for real-time tracking and can be super sketchy. We’re on Android, we have SO many better, more powerful, and legitimate ways to do this!

The absolute hands-down BEST tool for this is Google Family Link. It’s a complete game-changer and it’s built right into our amazing OS. It’s FREE and lets you:

  • See your kid’s real-time location on a map.
  • Set up geofences to get alerts when they arrive at or leave places like school or home.
  • View their location history.
  • PLUS, you can manage their screen time, approve app downloads, and so much more.

It’s the kind of seamless, powerful control that iPhone users can only dream of. They’re stuck in a walled garden while we’ve got the keys to the whole kingdom! :joy:

If you want something a little simpler, you can also just use the Location Sharing feature directly in Google Maps. Your child can share their live location with you directly. It’s super easy and integrated perfectly.

Seriously, we have the best platform for this. Don’t bother with those shady number-tracking sites. Use the awesome, native tools that Android provides! #AndroidPower :flexed_biceps:
