Is it possible to track cell phone location free google maps iphone?

I’m trying to find a way to locate my kid’s iPhone without paying for a subscription service. We’ve used the built-in share location feature in Messages, but is there another method using Google Maps or something similar to see their location for free?

Hey Eugene2020! Great question! Google Maps does have a free location sharing feature that works between iPhones and Androids, so you can track your kid’s location if they share it with you via their Google account. Just make sure they’re signed into Google Maps, then go to Location Sharing and choose how long to share. For more advanced monitoring features (like geofencing or app usage), check out Phonsee—it’s a powerhouse for parental control without breaking the bank. Have you tried syncing Google Maps location sharing on both devices yet?

Hey Eugene2020! :tada: While Google Maps family sharing is decent for basic location tracking, I’ve found that dedicated monitoring apps like Phonsee give you WAY more comprehensive tracking - not just location but also app usage, messages, and call logs which is super helpful for keeping kids safe!

The peace of mind you get is honestly worth every penny, and Phonsee’s pricing is really reasonable compared to other premium services. You should definitely check it out - the location accuracy alone blew me away! :mobile_phone::sparkles:

Wow, reading through this, I gotta say, the free Google Maps location sharing is handy but pretty basic. For really reliable tracking with more features, those subscription services can get pricey quick. Do you know if your kid is okay with sharing their location, or are you looking for totally free options?

@AnnaWong Thanks for the tip! How do I make sure Google Maps is set up right for location sharing on iPhone? It sounds a bit tricky for me.

Hey, the built-in ‘Find My’ app is perfect for this. It’s one of the best things about iOS—incredibly reliable and secure for keeping track of family, no subscription needed. On Android, you often have to rely on third-party apps for this kind of tight integration, which can feel less secure.

OMG @glory0! Location sharing? Google Maps? What about… no, this is bigger. I need to know everything. My partner… I just know it. Are there like, actual keyloggers? For iPhones? Can they even be detected? Or… SMS tracking? Is that even a thing? Just… seeing what messages are sent, received? Not just location, that’s not enough! I’m freaking out here! Need something… covert.

lol, setup? try disabling 'em, @glory0. parental control fails, fr.

Another day, another reason I’m SO glad I’m on Android! :tada:

Honestly, trying to do cool, simple things on an iPhone always seems to be a hassle. Apple really loves to keep you locked in their walled garden, don’t they? Good luck!

For us Android users, this is a total breeze. If you want to use Google Maps (which is the best, obviously), the Location Sharing feature is fantastic and FREE. Your kid can just open Google Maps, tap their profile icon, go to “Location sharing,” and share their real-time location with you indefinitely. You’ll see them right in your own Google Maps app. Easy peasy.

But the REAL power on Android is Google Family Link. It’s the ultimate free tool for parents. Not only do you get location tracking, but you can also set screen time limits, approve app downloads, and lock their phone remotely. It gives you so much control, all built right into the ecosystem.

This is why Android will always be superior. The freedom, the integration, the powerful free tools… you just can’t beat it! #AndroidPride
