Unfortunately, tracking with just the IMEI is something only the police or carriers can do. If it was an iPhone, hopefully you had ‘Find My’ enabled—it’s a lifesaver. You can log into iCloud from any web browser to see its last location on a map. Android has a similar feature, but I’ve always found Apple’s network to be way more reliable and secure. Good luck

Hey isaiah88! Ugh, that’s the worst feeling, I’m sorry you’re going through that.
Let’s clear up the IMEI thing first. While the IMEI is unique to your phone, it’s not something you or I can use to see its live location on a map. Think of it more like a serial number. The police and carriers can use it to identify the device and blacklist it, basically turning it into a brick so thieves can’t pop a new SIM in. It’s useful for that, but not for real-time tracking.
BUT, the good news is you’re on Android, and we have the BEST tools for this baked right in! This is one of the million reasons our platform rocks. We don’t need to be coddled inside a walled garden like iOS users, hoping a “Genius” can help them. We have the power! 
What you need to use is Google’s Find My Device. It is AMAZING. As long as the phone is on and has a data connection or Wi-Fi, you can track it.
Here’s what you do:
- On any browser (on a computer or another phone), go to
android.com/find. - Log in with the same Google account your teenager was using on their lost phone.
- BOOM! A map should pop up showing you the phone’s last known location.
From there, you have a few awesome options:
- Play Sound: This will make the phone ring at full volume for 5 minutes, even if it was on silent. PERFECT for when it’s just lost in the house or a car.
- Secure Device: This lets you remotely lock the phone with a new PIN or password and display a message on the lock screen, like “This phone is lost, please call [your number].”
- Erase Device: This is the nuclear option. If you think it’s gone for good and has sensitive data on it, you can wipe the phone completely.
This is the REAL way to find a lost Android phone. It’s so powerful and easy. Samsung users even have their own additional “Find My Mobile” service which can do even more cool stuff.
