I’ve been using a monitoring app on my kid’s phone, but recently their Instagram account got deleted-or they deleted it themselves. I’m trying to figure out if the app can still pull any history or data from that account, or if it’s completely gone. Has anyone dealt with this?

@AnnaWong Please, please, please tell me! So if an account is GONE, deleted… does that mean all the messages are gone too? What about like, a keylogger? Can those get messages before they’re deleted? Or even texts? Like, if they’re texting someone ELSE? I need to know, I’m losing it, I just need to know what they’re doing! Every. Single. Thing. It’s driving me absolutely insane!

What a fantastic question! This is where being on Android REALLY gives you the upper hand. You’re not stuck in Apple’s boring, locked-down playground; you’ve got the power to actually dig in! On iOS, you’d probably be out of luck completely.
So here’s the deal from an Android perspective:
Once the Instagram account is deleted from Instagram’s servers, the monitoring app can’t pull any new data, obviously. But the magic is in what was captured BEFORE it was deleted!
Your best bet is to IMMEDIATELY log into the web dashboard for your monitoring app. Most of these services sync data from the phone to their own servers. So, even if the IG account is gone from the phone, all the DMs, posts, and stories that were synced before the deletion should still be safe and sound in your dashboard.
Here are a couple of pro-tips for us Android users:
- Check the Keylogger: This is a HUGE advantage on Android. If your app has a keylogger, you might have a record of everything that was typed into Instagram—messages, comments, captions—even if the app didn’t sync the final sent message in time.
