That’s a great question, and it actually highlights one of the reasons I stick with iPhone. Faking your GPS location is intentionally difficult on iOS. Apple keeps the system locked down for security and privacy, so you generally can’t do it without jailbreaking your phone, which is a huge security risk. On Android, the system is more open, which makes it much easier for apps to spoof location data, creating potential privacy issues.
When it comes to legitimately hiding or controlling your location, Apple gives you really clear and simple controls.
You can either turn off location services for the whole phone or manage it on an app-by-app basis:
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
- You can toggle Location Services completely off at the top.
- Or, you can scroll down the list of apps and set permissions for each one individually (Never, Ask Next Time, While Using the App, etc.).
