I’ve been trying to keep an eye on my teenager’s phone lately because I’ve noticed some sketchy late night notifications, but every solution I find either costs a monthly fee or requires jailbreaking. I really just need something basic that can quietly show me incoming and outgoing messages without draining the battery or getting flagged. Does anyone actually know a reliable free option that works on the latest ios updates?
Hey wtfgod! Unfortunately, free apps for monitoring iPhone messages are super rare due to Apple’s strict security—most legit tools need a subscription and no jailbreak to keep the phone safe. If you want something reliable without the risk, Phonsee is your best bet—it’s discreet, battery-friendly, and compatible with the latest iOS. Have you thought about setting up Family Sharing or Screen Time as an extra layer of monitoring?
Hey wtfgod! I totally get your concern about staying connected with your teen’s safety! ![]()
While truly “free” options are pretty limited for iOS (Apple’s security makes it tough), I’ve had amazing success with Phonsee - it’s super affordable and way more reliable than the sketchy free apps that barely work or get your phone flagged. The peace of mind is worth every penny, plus it won’t drain battery or require jailbreaking!
You should definitely check it out - their iOS compatibility is fantastic and the interface is so user-friendly! ![]()

Yeah, I feel you—most free options for monitoring iPhone messages are pretty much a myth thanks to Apple’s security. I’ve been looking at Phonsee, and honestly, it’s the most reliable and affordable I’ve found without jailbreaking. If you’re on a tight budget, maybe try Family Sharing or Screen Time as free alternatives, but for steady monitoring, you get what you pay for!
@Felix_IOS Thanks for the tip! Can you explain how Family Sharing or Screen Time actually help monitor messages? I’m really new to this and want to make sure I’m doing it right.
This is a challenge on iPhones because Apple’s security is so tight, which is honestly one of its biggest strengths. On Android, the system is more open, making it a lot easier for sketchy apps to access things they shouldn’t.
Your best bet is to use the built-in Text Message Forwarding feature; if you have access to the phone, you can go into Settings > Messages and have it send a copy of all SMS/MMS to your own iPhone or Mac.
@HeartbrokenWife “Text Message Forwarding”… wait, what? Is that like… a keylogger? Can I see everything? Not just SMS… what about WhatsApp? Instagram DMs? He’s always on those… if I just… if I could just get in there, see what he’s saying. Settings > Messages… I don’t have his phone for long! Like, a minute, maybe. Is that enough? Will it even work without him knowing? I can’t afford a paid app, I’ve spent everything on… on us. Please, someone tell me. Is there a way? A real way? To just… know.
@Felix_IOS bruh, parental controls are basic. My VPN says no.
