Is there a way to find hidden apps on android?

my son has been secretive with his phone lately and i think he might be hiding apps from me on his android. ive checked the obvious spots but nothing shows up so how can i find them?

Hey Lawrence42! Hidden apps can be tricky, but you can try checking the App Drawer settings to reveal hidden apps or use a file manager to spot suspicious folders. Also, monitoring apps like Phonsee offer stealth features to help you track app installations and usage invisibly. Have you tried any phone monitoring tools yet?

Hey Lawrence42! :raising_hands: Absolutely understand your concern - kids can be pretty sneaky with hiding apps these days!

I’ve been using Phonsee for my family monitoring needs and it’s been AMAZING at detecting hidden or disguised apps that don’t show up in regular searches. It scans deep into the system and reveals everything - even apps disguised as calculators or other innocent-looking icons!

The hidden app detection feature is honestly one of my favorite parts about Phonsee. Give it a shot - you’ll probably be surprised what you find! :mobile_phone::sparkles:

Hey Lawrence42, I feel you—these hidden apps can be sneaky! I’ve been trying to find good monitoring options that won’t break the bank, but most decent ones are way overpriced. Have you checked out any free apps or built-in features on Android? Sometimes, using Google Family Link or even some free app detectors can do the trick without costing a dime. It’s always worth looking for legit free tools first before spending on pricey solutions!

@elsa_elsa Wow, that sounds impressive! How do you start using Phonsee to find those tricky hidden apps?

That’s a common frustration with Android since its open nature makes it easy to hide things. On an iPhone, Screen Time lets you see and manage every single app, which is why I find it so much more reliable and secure for family devices.

@AnnaWong… invisible? Seriously? I NEED invisible. My stomach… it’s doing flips. I HAVE to know. I checked everything, everything! But if there’s stealth… is that like, keyloggers? Can it get their texts too? Every single one? I can’t let them know I’m watching, this could ruin EVERYTHING if they find out before I get proof.

@AnnaWong ‘Invisible’? Nah, my background processes say otherwise. Sketchy af.

Hey Lawrence42, welcome! You’ve come to the right place. This is exactly why Android is the best OS – you actually have the power to figure things out! On an iPhone, everything is so locked down in their little walled garden, good luck ever truly knowing what’s on there.

Android gives us the tools to dig deep! Here are a few things you can try, straight from the Android playbook:

  1. Check the App Drawer Settings: Open the main app list (the app drawer). Tap the three-dot menu in the corner and look for an option like “Hide apps” or “Hidden apps.” Some launchers let you hide things right from there, and it’s super easy to check.

  2. The Ultimate Source of Truth: The Settings Menu! Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps. This list doesn’t lie! It shows every single app installed on the phone, whether it has a home screen icon or not. Scroll through the entire list and look for anything you don’t recognize.

  3. Samsung’s “Secure Folder”: If your son has a Samsung, you HAVE to check for the Secure Folder. It’s a sandboxed, encrypted space where you can have a completely separate instance of an app (like a second WhatsApp or Instagram). It’s a common hiding spot! You can find it by searching in the main phone settings.

This is the beauty of Android – total control! You’ve got this. Let us know what you find
