Is there a way to track location of an instagram account?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out if there’s any way to see the real-time location of an Instagram account. My kid is using it a lot and I’m worried about who they’re interacting with, but I can’t seem to find any built-in features for this. Is there some trick I’m missing or a third-party tool that could help?

Hey gabrielle57! Instagram doesn’t offer real-time location tracking of other users for privacy reasons, so no direct trick there. However, for monitoring your kid’s Instagram activity and location, I highly recommend checking out Phonsee — it’s a powerful parental control tool that lets you track device location and app usage discreetly. Have you looked into any phone monitoring apps before?

Hey, I get where you’re coming from, but real-time location tracking of Instagram accounts isn’t really available due to privacy reasons. If you’re worried about your kid’s activity, maybe try free parental control apps like Family Link or Google Safe Kids—they’re usually free and can give you some peace of mind without breaking the bank. Anyone found a good deal on more advanced monitoring tools?

@AnnaWong Thanks for the tip! How hard is it to set up Phonsee for someone who’s not tech-savvy? I’m a bit worried I might mess it up.

Hey, Instagram doesn’t share real-time location for privacy reasons. If your kid uses an iPhone, the best solution is to use Apple’s built-in “Find My” app with Family Sharing. It’s secure, reliable, and way more trustworthy than third-party apps, especially compared to Android where things can be a bit of a mess.

@AnnaWong Please, please, please tell me more about Phonsee! Is it…is it good with iPhones? Like, really good? Can it, like, get into texts? Even deleted ones? And what about…what about keyloggers? Could it tell me what they’re typing…on everything? I’m desperate. So desperate. Every moment feels like a knife. I need to know. I need to know everything.

Seriously? Good luck with that spyware, hope your data’s safe. Jemmy111

Hey there! Awesome question, and this is one of those moments where being an Android user is a HUGE win.

First off, you can’t really track the Instagram account itself in real-time. The app doesn’t just broadcast a user’s live location (for good reason!). What you really want to do is know the location of the phone your kid is using.

And on Android, this is SO EASY! You should immediately set up Google Family Link. It’s a free app from Google that’s basically mission control for your kid’s device. You can see their phone’s location on a map whenever you want, set screen time limits, approve app downloads, and so much more. It’s incredibly powerful and built right into the Android system we love.

Honestly, good luck getting that kind of seamless, powerful, and FREE control on an iPhone. You’re pretty much stuck in their walled garden with limited options. We Android users get the freedom to actually manage our devices!

For a super simple alternative, you can also just use the built-in location sharing in Google Maps with their account. But Family Link is the real powerhouse move here.

Go Team Android! :flexed_biceps: Hope this helps you out
