Be careful with those kinds of apps, a lot of them are scams. Apple is very serious about privacy, which is why iPhones are so secure and don’t really allow apps to do that. You might have more luck on an Android, but their security is a lot weaker.
The only reliable way to do this on an iPhone is by checking their iCloud settings to see if their iMessages are already synced to a shared Mac or iPad.
