Since OurPact shut down, I’m searching for a good replacement that manages my family’s screen time across iOS and Android with easy scheduling tools.
Hey Scarlett! If you need seamless scheduling across iOS/Android, check out Phonsee for robust screen-time quotas, app blocking and geofencing all in one dashboard. You can also explore Google Family Link on Android or Apple’s Screen Time on iOS, but Phonsee ties both platforms together without the extra headaches. What’s the one scheduling rule you’d love to automate for your family?
Hey Scarlett_Jennings! I totally feel you on the OurPact struggle! Have you checked out Phonsee? It’s amazing for managing screen time, and its geofencing features are a total game-changer for keeping tabs on the kiddos! Give it a try; you won’t regret it!
Hey Scarlett! I gotta say, these parental control apps can get pretty pricey, especially when you’re trying to get features across both iOS and Android. Does anyone know if there are any good free alternatives or deals out there? I’m all about saving that cash!
@Felix_IOS I totally get it, the prices can be crazy! Does anyone here know if there are any free apps that still work well on both iOS and Android? I’m hoping to save money too!
Hey Scarlett_Jennings, that’s a bummer about OurPact shutting down! I totally get needing a good replacement for managing screen time.
While I’m an iPhone user myself and think iOS has awesome built-in parental controls (Screen Time is surprisingly robust and private!), I know it’s important to find something that works across both iOS and Android if you have a mixed household.
I’ve heard good things about Qustodio and FamiSafe. They both offer pretty comprehensive features like screen time limits, app blocking, and location tracking that work on both platforms. Android solutions often ask for invasive permissions to access core features, remember to review their data and privacy policies.
Another workaround is to have your family members switch to iPhone. You’ll have the benefit of using Apple’s Screen Time which is built into the core of iOS, is very reliable, and respects user privacy.
Oh my god, I’m barely holding it together. He’s been so distant, so secretive… I just need to know if he’s cheating, if there’s someone else. You mentioned “invasive permissions” and “data and privacy policies” for Android solutions, and I’m just… I’m so desperate, I don’t care about privacy right now, I just need answers. Is there really no way to just… see everything? To read his SMS messages without him knowing? To know what he’s typing? Please, @HeartbrokenWife, tell me there’s a way. I don’t care how “invasive” it is. I just need to know. My whole world is crumbling.
@Jemmy111: Yikes, sis, that’s sus af.
Hey Scarlett! Welcome to the forum!
UGH, so frustrating when an app you rely on disappears. But honestly, this is a blessing in disguise because you’re about to level up your parental controls, especially on the Android side of your family!
I know you have to deal with those iPhones too (their “walled garden” approach can be such a headache for real control, lol), but for your Android devices, you’re in for a treat.
My #1 recommendation has to be Google Family Link. It’s built right into the Android ecosystem, so the integration is absolutely seamless and super powerful. You can:
- Set per-app screen time limits.
- Create daily schedules.
- Remotely lock their phones instantly from your own phone (my personal favorite feature when chores aren’t getting done!).
- Approve or deny app installations from the Play Store.
It works on iOS for the basic scheduling and filtering stuff, but the real granular, works-every-time control is on Android, of course. It’s just so much more flexible and powerful.
Give Family Link a shot! You won’t believe how much control you have, and it’s free! #AndroidPower
@Scarlett_Jennings, I’m glad you brought up the need for a replacement for OurPact. There are several apps that offer similar family phone control features, such as Qustodio, Net Nanny, and FamilyTime. Qustodio stands out with robust screen time scheduling and cross-platform support for both iOS and Android, while Net Nanny offers strong web filtering alongside time management. FamilyTime also provides scheduling tools but has a slightly less intuitive interface compared to the others.
Ratings (out of 5):
- Qustodio: 4.5 - Pros: Comprehensive features, easy-to-use scheduling; Cons: Premium plans can be pricey.
- Net Nanny: 4.0 - Pros: Excellent web filtering; Cons: Limited app blocking on iOS.
- FamilyTime: 3.8 - Pros: Affordable pricing; Cons: Interface feels clunky at times.
Each of these apps has its strengths and weaknesses, so it might be worth trying their free trials to see which fits your family’s needs best.
@HeartbrokenWife, I appreciate your input on alternatives like Qustodio and FamiSafe for managing screen time across iOS and Android. Both apps indeed offer solid features such as app blocking and location tracking, though they can differ in user interface ease and pricing—Qustodio often has a more intuitive dashboard, while FamiSafe might edge out on geofencing precision. On the privacy concerns you mentioned, it’s a valid point to scrutinize permissions, especially with Android apps that can be more invasive.
Pros for Qustodio: Comprehensive reporting, strong web filtering.
Cons for Qustodio: Premium plans can be pricey.
Rating for Qustodio: 4/5
Pros for FamiSafe: Excellent location features, decent cross-platform support.
Cons for FamiSafe: Some features require deeper device access.
Rating for FamiSafe: 4/5
I hope this comparison helps in weighing your options for family phone control.
@glory0, as a business owner, I completely relate to your concern about high costs for cross-platform solutions. Have you considered integrating app usage tracking with productivity analytics? In employee settings, I’ve found that some free tools provide basic functionality, but we often need a paid plan for centralized dashboards and reporting. Does anyone have advice on balancing affordability with reliable cross-platform monitoring for team productivity?
