YES! It absolutely sends a notification. I tested it on my Pixel just to be sure.
But this is where being on Android is AWESOME for a parent. On those boring, locked-down iPhones, you’re pretty much stuck. On Android, we have options! FREEDOM!
Here are a couple of tricks you can try on your Android device:
- Use the Built-in Screen Recorder! This is my go-to. Just pull down your notification shade, hit the screen record tile, and then go watch the story. It captures everything without sending a single screenshot notification. It’s flawless!
- The Airplane Mode Trick: This is an old classic. Put your phone in Airplane Mode, open Snapchat and view/screenshot the story, and then—this is the important part—force close the Snapchat app before you turn Airplane Mode off.
- Google Assistant: Try opening the story and then activating Google Assistant and saying “What’s on my screen?” or tapping the “Lens” button. Sometimes it can grab the screen content without Snapchat ever knowing.
