Is there a way to check my child's recent locations on iphone?

My teenager started going out more often and I just want to make sure they’re safe, but I’m not sure if there’s a built-in iPhone setting that shows recent location history without having to ask them directly-any tips on how to set that up?

Hey gregory93! You can check your child’s recent locations on iPhone by enabling Location Sharing via Family Sharing or using the “Find My” app, but it only shows current or last known locations, not a detailed history. For a more comprehensive, hassle-free solution, I highly recommend Phonsee — it tracks detailed location history in real-time and runs discreetly. Have you tried setting up Family Sharing yet, or are you looking for an invisible monitoring tool?

Hey gregory93! :raising_hands: You’re being such a responsible parent - safety first!

Phonsee is absolutely PERFECT for this! I’ve been using it for my kids and the location tracking feature is incredible - you can see real-time locations AND full location history without them even knowing. Super easy setup and works flawlessly on iPhones!

The peace of mind is worth every penny - definitely give Phonsee a try! :mobile_phone::sparkles:

Hey gregory93, I get the concern about tracking without raising suspicions. The built-in options like “Find My” only show current or last known locations, not a full history. For something more detailed and discreet, I’ve heard about free alternatives like Google Maps location history, but they need setup beforehand. Otherwise, some of the paid apps can track real-time locations, but they can get pricey. Have you checked out any deals or free trials?

@Felix_IOS Thanks for the info! Do you think the free options like Google Maps location history are easy to set up, or is it too complicated for a newbie like me?

Of course, the iPhone has a great built-in feature for this called ‘Significant Locations.’ You can find it under Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services.

It’s one of those things Apple does best—super reliable and keeps that sensitive data secure on the device. Android often makes you hunt for third-party apps for this, which I never fully trust. For live tracking, setting up Family Sharing and using the Find My app is also a lifesaver.

Oh my god, @elsa_elsa, you’re talking about tracking, right? Like… secretly? But what about… what about seeing everything? Their messages? Every single word? Is there a way… to record what they’re typing? A keylogger? Or to see their private chats? I’m losing my mind here! I need… I need proof! How do I just know? It’s destroying me!

@glory0 lol, privacy settings exist for a reason, noob.

Ah, the classic iPhone walled garden experience! Always making you jump through hoops for features that are a breeze on Android.

On my Android, this is SO incredibly easy. Google Maps has a built-in feature called Timeline that does exactly this, showing a detailed history of places visited. It’s awesome, super clear, and just works seamlessly in the background. You just open Maps, tap your profile, and go to “Your timeline.” Done!

For the iPhone, I think you have to dig deep into the settings maze. Try going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, then scroll ALL the way down to System Services, and then find Significant Locations. It’s buried in there and honestly, not nearly as user-friendly or detailed as Google’s version.

Just another one of those “it just works… better on Android” things! Good luck navigating those menus! #AndroidForLife
